Seems like my image format of choice lately has been .gif, since I've been playing with transparencies and am occasionally (often) too lazy to make a background.  In this case, it worked out pretty well, since I wanted to keep the transparency of Amaratsu's little flames (although it would show up better if I had a background, oh well...)  In keeping with my theme of gifs and trying new things, I attempted to mimic the original inking style of the character and keep with the coloring style.  I think I was pretty successful.  Originally this image was designed as a graphic for a stamp (I may post a photo of the stamp and its print later), and I think it works well as a digital image too.

Little Dear

A sort of weak experiment with a lineartless illustration.  It's not actually all that lineless, I started out with a graphite under drawing, and then filled in the forms.   Just thought I'd share it here.

Unicorm Girl

I've decided to attempt something new, even if it's just something small, with every update.  Last update, I employed a new method of inking (to look more like black watercolor lines), and this time, I employed colored lines.

I've attempted using colored lines in the past, always with some glaringly tacky results.  This time, I went about it differently.  Instead of coloring the lines first, I did all of my lines in black on different layers (like hair, skin, ect), put down the flats, and adjusted the hue and saturation.  For some lines, I had to continue adjusting the color as I put down the shading, because it clashed or just wasn't dark enough.

I realize I should start getting serious about backgrounds, because mine are pretty awful.  That'll be something I'll be working on in the upcoming weeks.

Haven't been up to too terribly much lately.  When I got back from my vacation in Orange Beach, I found that whatever inking skill I had before I left had atrophied, so I inked an old doodle to warm up.  The warm up kind of took on a life of it's own, although not enough of a life for me to do a good job finishing it.  It's good enough to replace my old Livejournal Icon, however.

There should be some better finished stuff up later this week, and I'd like to do an art dump on my junk-journal sometime soon.  Twitter's been updated regularly with cell-phone camera pictures of sketches, so don't think that just because I haven't been inking things, I haven't been working at all.
